Student Co-op Homes launches £2m share issue

A pioneering new federation of student housing co-operatives, Student Co-op Homes, has been launched. Using a community share offer, SCH hopes to raise up to £2,000,000 to purchase properties across Britain to be leased to student housing co-ops.

Individuals, fellow co-ops, and like-minded organisations can support the campaign by purchasing shares in Student Co-op Homes via the Ethex platform. Shares start at £50, with shares over £250 able to earn interest of up to 4%.

Investing in this share offer is a unique opportunity to expand access to education, to contribute to a fairer economy, and to introduce new generations to co-operative ways of organising. — SCH

The launch is the culmination of years of work by student housing co-ops in partnership with Students for Co-operation, Co-operatives UK, and the Phone Co-op Foundation for Co-operative Innovation. Further support has been provided by Midcounties Co-operative, East of England Co-op, and Scotmid.
